The Golden Steer

The Golden Steer is a restaurant in Las Vegas, at 308 W Sahara Av.

The minute you arrive at Golden Steer, you know you’re a part of history. Opened in 1958, this no-nonsense spot continues to serve perfectly-preared steaks. Their table-side Caesar salad makes all other Caesars seem kind of sad — the servers could probably prep the dressing with their eyes closed. All of the steaks are great, and the Chateaubriand is carved table-side. (Table-side is a big thing at the Steer, and for anyone who appreciates that style of old-school dining, they nail it.) The dining room, with its deep red leather banquets, still feels like any member of the Rat Pack might saunter in, with an ice cold martini awaiting their arrival.

Musts

Shrimp cocktail, the Caesar and any steak you fancy with a loaded baked potato on the side, Bananas Foster or Cherry Jubilee (flambeed, you guessed it, table-side).

Good to know

hough it is in a strip mall, and Vegas is notoriously lax about these things, there is a dress code. No flip flops!
