American Bar

American Bar is a bar in London, at The Savoy, Strand.

Pulling into the driveway at The Savoy in the back of a black cab is a religious experience for tourists and Londoners alike. Having a cocktail at its storied American Bar is basically a sacrament. Beloved for good reason, the art deco interiors bring to mind a Gatsby-esque party, with coupes overflowing with champagne and gin martinis. And for the first time an actual American is running the show: Shannon Tebay of New York’s Death & Company took over in August 2021. She also happens to be the first woman in over a century to become head bartender.
