Saint Germain
Les Deux Magots
Les Deux Magots is a cafe in Saint Germain, Paris, at 6 Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Named for the two carved Chinese figures on its central pillar, Les Deux Magots has been a meeting place for writers and artists since 1884, from the Surrealists to Sartre and de Beauvoir. Its terrace looks out on the Saint-Germain-des-Prés church, and it still awards its own literary prize each year.
Musts
Old-fashioned hot chocolate, a croque-monsieur, breakfast on the terrace
Good to know
Prices reflect the address; it is about the setting. The terrace facing the church is the best seat.
